Official UK Singles Chart Week Ending 23/10/10

Last week Cee Lo Green managed to edge out Bruno Mars and Duck Sauce to hold on to the Number 1 spot for the second week.
This week releases and songs available for download were from The Wanted, Nelly and N-Dubz. Along with that large sales from established songs from Duck Sauce, Mike Posner and former Number 1 Bruno Mars, will Cee Lo Green hold on to Number 1 for a third week? Or will we have a new or returning Number 1 this week?

Number 1

- Bruno Mars becomes the first act since Shakira and 'Hips Dont Lie' back in June 2006 to chart at Number 1 be deposed, to later regain the Number 1 spot a second time.

Numbers 2 & 3

- After their debut single 'All Time Low' landed at Number 1 earlier this year, The Wanted score a respectable follow up chart position as 'Heart Vacancy' a much slower tempo number goes straight in at Number 2 this week.

- Reminding me that Summer has long gone, but still with the feel it hasn't Duck Sauce and 'Barbara Streisand' holds its own this week by cementing itself firmly in the Top 3. A group on the X Factor who recently sang this on the show criticised their mentor Simon Cowell for this song choice as to why they left the show, it certainly hasn't affected the sales of this song in any way.

Numbers 4-10

- LAST WEEK'S NUMBER 1 single Ceelo Green 'Forget You' takes a thumping this week, after spending the last 2 weeks at the top of the pile his single slips outside the Top 3 in its 3rd week.

- Katy Perry's 3rd single from the UK Number 1 album 'Teenage Dream' follows 'California Gurls' & 'Teenage Dream' straight into the Top 5 in its first week of release.

- 'Cooler Than Me' by Mike Posner continues its assault on the UK chart which has seen it continue to climb every week since it first appeared 4 weeks ago, i expect this to be nestled firmly inside the Top 5 next weekend.

- Swedish House Mafia's second UK release featuring Tinie Tempah slides from its Number 4 place last week in its 4th week since release.

- Double MOBO Winner this week Tinie Tempah and 'Written In The Stars' claims its 4th week in the Top 10 this week. He recently stated on ITV2 show the Xtra Factor that he would love to team up with contestant Cher Lloyd, very exciting prospect with that one.

- a return to the Top 10 for Jay Sean as he earns a 4th UK Top 10 single following 'Eyes On You' (#6-July 2004), Stolen (#4-November 2004) and the US Number 1 and UK Number 3 smash hit 'Down' from November 2009. The featured artist Nicki Minaj after much critical acclaim but alas no major UK success to date, appears in the UK Top 10. I expect we'll see Nicki develope into a prominent name on the music scene internationally very soon and the success that comes along with it.

- A fairly good week for N Dubz after co-hosting the MOBO Awards in Liverpool, they also walked off with an award for 'Best Single', the group follow up 'We Dance On' which peaked at Number 6 back in June with a 4th UK Top 10 single as 'Best Behaviour' is a new entry at Number 10

Numbers 11-20

- a welcome return for Nelly who makes his 22nd appearance in the Top 40 and his first since August 2008, and a good performance at the MOBO's this week has helped new single 'Just A Dream' return Nelly a highest chart position since he featured on January 2006's Number 1 single 'Nasty Girl' and a first as a solo artist since 'N Dey Say' landed at Number 6 over 5 years ago-back in June 2005.

- From the Simon Cowell ever-expanding music stable, recently signed Labrinth and 'Let The Sun Shine' trickles out of the Top 10 this week in its 4th week in the countdown this week.

- The third single from the Number 1 debut album 'Song's From The Tainted Cherry Tree' for Diana Vickers sees her fall a little short of a second Top 10 single, as 'My Wicked Heart' lands at Number 13 this week, which is a marked improvement on the understated previous single 'Boy Who Murdered Love' which didn't even threaten to trouble the Top 30 earlier this year.

- NON MOVER Congratulations to the Kings Of Leon by securing one the fastest selling Number One albums of 2010, by following up the 2.5 Million seller 'Only By The Night' with their new album 'Come Around Sundown'. The lead single 'Radioactive' holds firm just outside the Top 10 in its 3rd week

- Week number 14 for Usher and Pitbull sees them slip outside the Top 10 as 'DJ's Got Us Falling In Love Again' fall from last weeks Number 10.

- Taio Cruz's former Number One single 'Dynamite' puts in another solid week as its down just three places this week in its 9th week in the chart. Taio Cruz is featuring on fellow chart-toppers McFly's new single 'Shine A Light' which I feel will earn them at worst a solid Top 5 spot when released in the coming weeks.

- after the song being featured heavily on this year's X Factor- Adele and 'Make You Feel My Love' continues to enjoy a rebirth as it climbs 3 places this week and in the process in total notching up its 28th non-consecutive week in the Top 100.

- after this weeks collaboration with JLS at this weeks MOBO awards in Liverpool, Travie McCoy along side in-form returning Number 1 artist Bruno Mars 'Billionaire' slides 7 places in its very respectable 13th week on the countdown.

- Fresh from last weekends X Factor performance of new Top 5 single 'Firework' the recently reported newly married Katy Brand-Perry takes a small dip this week with the second single from the UK Number One album Teenage Dream as the song of the same name celebrates its 8th week in chart by sheding 3 chart positions this week.

- the reunited Take That teaser from Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams 'Shame' nose dives in its 3rd week from last weeks Number 7. Their first single as a five piece since 1995 'The Flood' is available to download in November.

Numbers 21-40

- Crisis? Reigning X Factor champ Joe McElderry even with a full CD release & prime time live performances follows up landing on the chart as a new entry last week at Number 6 by falling completely out of the Top 20 to number 21. Joe's new album is hitting shops Monday.

- B.O.B seems to have the 'Magic' touch at the moment as he makes an impressive leap of 12 places up the chart this week alongside Rivers Cuomo to spend its 4th week well positioned to break to Top 20 next week.

- Pixie Lott's less than impressive recent run of chart performances continues as 'Broken Arrow' drops 11 places in this its 2nd week, not even a spot guest judging on X Factor has turned it around for Pixie.

- The Script chalk up another week in the chart bringing the total for 'For the First Time' to 7 now, but drops 6 places in the process.

- The Saturdays are finding their song 'Higher' fails yet again to live upto its name and sheds 3 places in its 9th week. Look out for the Flo Rida remix of this song coming soon.

- Enrique Iglesias and stand in X Factor judge Nicole Sherzinger continue to go the wrong way in the countdown, as 'Heartbeat' gets 11 places heavier as it sinks to 26 in its 6th week.

- fresh from his performance on X Factor on Sunday, Michael Buble tumbles 10 places this week with 'Hollywood'. I expect this to either climb or hold firm come next Sunday.

- The Number 1 that never was! Eminem featuring Rihanna and 'Love The Way You Lie' maintains a respectable position by sheding 7 places in its 18th week in the chart this week.

- Katy B slides 10 places with 'Katy On A Mission' in its 8th week in the countdown.

- American country superstar Taylor Swift makes a return to the UK singles chart this week with the first single off her new album 'Speak Now' and earns her joint second highest chart position with new single 'Mine'. This song has a long way to go to match the impressive performance of her debut 'Love Story' which hit Number 2 back in February 2009.

- another New Entry, and this one goes to Skepta with his 4th UK single and his second highest chart position this week with 'Cross My Heart' featuring Preeya Kalidas (of Eastenders fame), which follows his last effort 'Rescue Me' (Number 14-July 2010) and edges ahead of 'Bad Boy' which peaked at Number 35 back in March.

-Highly lauded Shontelle and the smoky single 'Impossible' fails to deliver again this week and sheds another 9 places in the chart after 6 weeks.

- the evergreen B.O.B. featuring Hayley Williams with 'Airplanes' chalks up yet another week in the charts this week but suffer a slide again this week sacrificing 8 places in the chart to notch up its 25th consecutive week making it the longest consecutive running single in the Top 40 this week.

- The Wanted and their debut single 'All Time Low' reverses its downward trend by recovering 2 places and climbing in its 13th week in the Chart, partly fueled in part their heirs in waiting 'One Direction' igniting the fan base to fever pitch levels, and also fueled by the release of their follow up single, the sultry 'Heart Vacancy' which shot straight in this week to a very respectable Number 2.

- 2009 X Factor Runner-Up Olly Murs continues to prove wrong the saying that nobody remembers 2nd place as his former Number One 'Please Don't Let Me Go' sliding down 7 spots this week after a respectable 8 weeks in the chart.

- Magnetic Man and 'Perfect Stranger' takes a major tumble from last weeks Number 24 after 3 weeks.

- 2008 X Factor Winner Alexandra Burke and her 3rd UK Number One solo single takes a beating by falling 10 spots with 'Start Without You' in only its 7th week in the chart.

- Chart Topper Flo Rida featuring David Guetta 'Club Can't Handle Me' slides 8 in its 13th week.

- Eliza Doolite 'Pack Up' slides 7 in its 16th Week in the Top 100

- Former Number 1 'We speak no Americano' mirrors Eliza Doolittle slides 7 in its 16th Week in the Top 100
